I love how you put "economy" in quotations. Our "economy" isn't real, which is why it needs "quotations". Automation will allow for abundance, but while we still depend on century-old technology for the source of the automation's power, we'll be slaves to the system. How have we not figured out free energy yet? Come on MIT, let's do this.
This article is useless because it makes no adjustment for cost of living.

“My answer is yes, I live in the UK where we have a single payer system that doesn't discriminate on any prior conditions. You could have been a junkie with every disease under the sun and they would still treat you, you could be a billionaire and they would treat you, you could weigh 300 lbs and they would treat you, it doesn't matter. My original point was meant to be, the biggest problem with private sector health insurance is that they will discriminate based on prior conditions, and refuse to pay out due to any technicality, a public option in the USA wouldn't be allowed to do this, if you made insurance companies stop denying coverage and paying for costs then you wouldn't need a public option.

Not quite. Even if it were a "side effect" of some other cognitive process (though that line of thinking isn't quite accurate, but that discussion is a long one and isn't necessary here), there's no reason that it wouldn't be selected out of the gene pool if it didn't have a positive effect on gene transmission. Furthermore, the ability to appreciate art and beauty would surely not be selected for at a greater rate than the negative effects of depression would be selected against..
Obviously, Mr. Goat has been chewing on the server cables, again. :(!

hallelujah?
If I picked a 12th it'd be Chappelle's Show. I mean, it could be argued that the comedic exploration of race and racism had a predecessor in In Living Colour, but Chappelle took it much further (and was funnier). |
